Suspension bushings may be replaced with bushings of any mate-<br \/>\nrials (except metal) as long as they \ufb01 t in the original location. Off-<br \/>\nset bushings may be used. In a replacement bushing the amount<br \/>\nof metal relative to the amount of nonmetallic material may not be<br \/>\nincreased. <strong>This does not authorize<\/strong> a change in type of bushing (for<br \/>\nexample ball and socket replacing a cylindrical bushing), or use of<br \/>\n<strong>a bushing with an angled hole whose direction differs from that of<br \/>\nthe original bushing<\/strong>. If the Stock bushing accommodated multi-axis<br \/>\nmotion via compliance of the component material(s), the replace-<br \/>\nment bushing may not be changed to accommodate such motion<br \/>\nvia a change in bushing type, for example to a spherical bearing or<br \/>\nsimilar component involving internal moving parts. Pins or keys may<br \/>\nbe used to prevent the rotation of alternate bushings, but may serve<br \/>\nno other purpose than that of retaining the bushing in the desired<br \/>\nposition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DSC09323\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/DSC09323-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So yeah, um, that&#8217;s exactly what I just had made. \u00a0Oops. \u00a0John built them exactly as I asked, this was totally my bad.<\/p>\n<p>I completely missed that bushing restriction when designing these pieces. \u00a0That bushing rule is lengthy and difficult to pay attention to the whole way through. \u00a0Of course I ought to know it a bit better as I&#8217;m on the STAC &#8211; the Street Touring Advisory Committee, the group of volunteers who works to maintain the ruleset for the Street Touring autocross category of preparation within the SCCA. \u00a0Duhhh!<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to Louis for pointing this out to me! \u00a0New custom bushings are going to cost a bunch of $, but I&#8217;d much rather this, than show up with an illegal car. \u00a0Along those lines, if my readership spots anything I&#8217;m doing that&#8217;s blatantly illegal, please don&#8217;t be afraid to mention it to me. \u00a0Part of what I hope to get from all the effort in creating this blog is help from its readers, in ensuring I&#8217;m doing this right. \u00a0Or legally, at least. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I received a really nice email today from a fellow named Louis, who pointed out an important oversight I&#8217;ve made. \u00a0Specifically: B.
