Ha<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09118.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-189\" title=\"DSC09118\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09118-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09118-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09118-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The rear axle looks lonely floating out there in space on its mono leaf.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09119.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-190\" title=\"DSC09119\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09119-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09119-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09119-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d anticipated replacing everything mechanical &#8211; engine, transmission, rear end, suspension, steering, brakes &#8211; as part of either the Z28 conversion, or as part of the STX upgrades. \u00a0One area that will need more attention that I anticipated is the interior. \u00a0Was hoping to salvage some things, and from this picture it doesn&#8217;t look too bad-<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09121.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-191\" title=\"DSC09121\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09121-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09121-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09121-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But really, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">everything<\/span> in the interior is going to need to be replaced. \u00a0When the time comes to order those parts, it&#8217;s sure to make the sales quarter for one of the Camaro restoration vendors. \u00a0The window cranks and door pulls are okay, and I might be able to sell the door panels and center console. \u00a0But everything else needs replacement, including all the little nickel-and-dime things. \u00a0The car has some kind of aftermarket wiring kit in it. \u00a0There&#8217;s not a lot electrical to these cars, especially the way I&#8217;ll have it optioned, so it&#8217;ll get all new factory wiring harnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The floors look perfect from underneath the car but pretty yucky from inside. \u00a0Fortunately they passed the &#8220;icepick test&#8221; (could Sharon Stone make a hole in the floorboard if she tried? if not, the panel can be kept) so they will just need to be cleaned and thoroughly de-rusted.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09130.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-192\" title=\"DSC09130\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09130-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09130-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09130-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The car was originally Marina Blue, it was nice to see some of that color appear under the dash, and behind the hood hinges when removed. \u00a0The previous owner had done a DIY respray in an orangish-red, and with all the overspray and buffing he did, just about every exposed surface of the car, including everything in the engine compartment, has a reddish hue to it.<\/p>\n<p>The front of the car came apart fairly easily. \u00a0To people who have worked on these old cars it&#8217;s all old hat, but to me, I couldn&#8217;t believe how beefy everything was. \u00a0Needed another hour or so to finish and get the fenders off, ran out of time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09129.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-193\" title=\"DSC09129\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09129-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09129-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/DSC09129-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With another weekend or two&#8217;s worth of work, should have the car fully apart and ready for the construction phase. \u00a0Gotta get all the way to the bottom before you can start the climb back up!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did some dismantling of the car today, while the Seahawks dismantled the Chargers.
