{"id":1282,"date":"2012-07-08T22:05:44","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T05:05:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/?p=1282"},"modified":"2012-07-08T22:05:44","modified_gmt":"2012-07-09T05:05:44","slug":"stx-thrust-comparison-2012-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/?p=1282","title":{"rendered":"STX thrust comparison 2012-2013?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0A recent thread on the new Toyota Scion FRS &amp; Subaru BRZ on <a title=\"Teh Sandbox\" href=\"http:\/\/www.roadraceautox.com\/forumdisplay.php?f=2\" target=\"_blank\">roadrace-autox.com <\/a>took an interesting turn around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadraceautox.com\/showthread.php?t=33690&amp;page=37\">post #3680<\/a>, when someone opined on where the car should go in the Street Touring category.<\/p>\n<p>Now that Street Touring has moved from seats-and-displacement based classing, to one relying on subjective assessment of vehicle performance, there are many places where a given car could land.\u00a0 As a normally aspirated and lightweight 2+2, the FRS\/BRZ could fit in many of the classes, and every single one &#8211; STC, STS, STX, STR, and STU, have been mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>A good bit of the discussion was on how the car would fit in STX, given how similar it is to the RX8.\u00a0 Some dynos were shared and thoughts on acceleration given.<\/p>\n<p>Since I&#8217;d already collected the data for some other STX cars, it was not too much work to provide an STX-centric thrust spreadsheet, which I&#8217;ve linked to below here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/STX_thrust.xlsx\">STX_thrust<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s still a lot unknown about the FRS\/BRZ, including what size tires it can fit.\u00a0 Feel free to download this spreadsheet and make adjustments as you see fit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Based on what I&#8217;ve seen so far, the accelerative capability (which by no means dictates in-class performance!) looks to be on par with the RWD class leaders in STX.\u00a0 The BMW 328 appears to have a slight edge over 55mph, and the Scionaru would appear to have an edge at very low speeds (~25) which could possibly be an edge up to 35mph if there were a way to tune out the torque dip.\u00a0 These all pale in comparison to the nearly-forgotten WRX, which dominated the class for so long but has been out of favor in recent years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1288\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1288\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/STX_thrust.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1288\" title=\"STX_thrust\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/STX_thrust-300x178.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/STX_thrust-300x178.png 300w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/STX_thrust-1024x607.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.rhoadescamaro.com\/build\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/STX_thrust.png 1235w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1288\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">STX thrust values for 2012-2013 competitor cars including Camaro<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The sample\u00a0data I&#8217;ve provided here for the Camaro includes a very optimistic curb weight, and dyno numbers from a magazine engine build, that are possibly\u00a0somewhat representative, but\u00a0certainly not\u00a0identical, to a stock-legal engine build for the same motor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0A recent thread on the new Toyota Scion FRS &amp; Subaru BRZ on roadrace-autox.com took an interesting turn around post #3680, when someone opined on where the car should go in the Street Touring category.
